Bring to us you favorite tales in a form that you prefer ( story, poetry, sing text, dramaturgy, autobiography…).

To be the agent of your desire, yes. In a few hours I will share with you the exercise for your personal goal, to embody a character useful for you, to read your speech, to read your favorite story, finding together your unique character who will be beside you every day. Theater and its practices are inexhaustible sources of resources for your creative paths.

For young people who focus their talent into theater or in their field. For blocked artists, for all those who want to start over. To focus on your creativity through theater’s tools.

We will start from a common text, dedicated to a natural element, to an environmental fact, or inspired and taken from a Greek tragedy that had as one of its proper terms the being of Human Nature pervaded and fused with the divine.

The text will be reworked during the workshop by each choosing the dearest reference to talk about Nature and combining material and immaterial suggestions. Some lines, some words, a sing, a poetry, an ancient dance, our memory.

During the workshop it will be possible to elaborate a dramatic dramaturgy as a choral and individual contemporary poetry to bring into the open space or hypothesizing that same space, recreating it artistically. It will be like a secular prayer of gratitude to Mother Earth in theatrical form.

Men and women from all over the world inspired by nature as their personal and choral horizon, inspired by their own memories and by the desire to know theatrical expression as a means of narration, communication, memory, sharing, imagination, creativity. Groups of theatre who wish to experiment with a different way of doing theatre.

Unveiling the Monologue: A Journey into Solo Performance

Da dove nasce un monologo? Quel e l’ esigenza di un personaggio di parlar da solo? Tra sé, con chi, in qual momento, perché. “Now I am alone”, è uno degli inizi dei cinque o sette monologhi contenuti nell “Amleto”. Ho cominciato a recitare parti monologanti sin da tutta la mia carriera scolastica, e fino ad oggi, quindi guardandomi indietro vedo come un seme messo a germoglio la scelta di chi al Piccolo Teatro di Milano mi affidò giovanissima proprio i monologhi di Amleto in una restituzione pubblica dei nostri studi. Così condivido quello che è un mio percorso importante: la messinscena di monologhi vissuta come attitude divenuta cara, desiderio, gioco, rischio e che mi regala l’ opportunità di ideare i ‘miei’ personaggi. Assumendo tutto questo su di me, come attrice, è divenuto per me risorsa di creatività, responsabilità artistica, impegno nel fare teatro, una specie di viaggio lungo la vita in compagnia dell’ arte: un percorso di libertà. La creazione di un personaggio, che ironicamente in ambienti anglofoni potremmo dire ‘persona’ cioè quasi un opposto significato del nostro in uguale significante, può allora voler dire dare libertà alle nostre immagini, sensazioni, intuizioni. Lunghe battue e personaggio diventano quasi una sinonimia del linguaggio teatrale. Divertimento puro nel senso etimologico: scegliere una strada differente dal già detto o scritto o fatto per sorprenderci e regalarci anche fosse solo un suono nuovo di noi stessi, un’emozione mai pensata di poter provare, un ‘nostro’ personaggio e le sue parole.

Where does a monologue truly begin? What drives a character to speak alone, to themselves, with whom, at what moment, and why? “Now I am alone,” a powerful opening line from one of Hamlet’s iconic monologues, resonates deeply.

My own journey with monologues started early, shaping my entire school career and continuing to this day. Looking back, I see the seeds of this passion planted when, as a young student at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano, I was entrusted with Hamlet’s monologues for a public showcase of our studies. This experience ignited a lifelong exploration.

I’m thrilled to share my profound journey: the staging of monologues has become more than just a performance – it’s an attitude, a cherished desire, a playful exploration, and a thrilling risk. It gifts me the incredible opportunity to bring ‘my’ characters to life. Embracing this as an actress has been a wellspring of creativity, artistic responsibility, and a deep commitment to the art of theatre. It’s like a lifelong voyage alongside art itself – a path to freedom.

The creation of a character – which, ironically, in English-speaking contexts, we might call ‘persona,’ almost the opposite of our Italian ‘personaggio’ despite the similar sound – can mean giving freedom to our images, sensations, and intuitions. Long speeches and a character become almost synonymous with the language of theatre.

This is pure delight in its etymological sense: choosing a path different from what has already been said, written, or done, to surprise ourselves and discover, even if it’s just a new sound within ourselves, an emotion we never thought possible, or ‘our’ own character and their words.
